On 12 and 13 March 2022, the Tepeltent (Nipple Tent) was erected in the lobby of Design Museum Den Bosch, where artist Natasja Alers made plaster casts of the nipples of museum visitors. More than 75 people literally and figuratively bared themselves to contribute to this unique project. Alers has incorporated these nipple impressions into an impressive vase over a metre high. The vase questions both the increasing prudishness of society and the sexualisation of our visual culture. The Bossche Tepelvaas was commissioned by Design Museum Den Bosch and is now part of the museum’s collection. The vase is on display in the lobby of Design Museum Den Bosch; no ticket is required to view it.
Visual artist Natasja Alers (The Hague, 1987) graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy with a degree in ceramics. Alers makes impressions of human body parts and constructs them into new sculptures, vases, reliefs, seating objects and installations.
