Posthuman
The Posthuman Collection of Design Museum Den Bosch is a future-oriented subcollection that has been actively built up since 2017. It consists of products and designs for the future that challenge the traditional relationship between humans, the body, technology, and nature. The collection emerged as a logical further development of the museum’s large, existing modern jewellery collection. Whereas jewellery was once purely decorative, the museum notes that it has since evolved into technological extensions of the body. The objects collected include “wearable objects,” as well as designs, photographs, and films, ranging from commercial products to speculative projects. As a result, the museum is the first in the world to hold a museum collection specifically focused on this philosophical and technological theme. In 2028, Design Museum Den Bosch will organize a major exhibition on this theme.
