Posters for the Planet

Visit time: 10 - 20 minutes

Design Museum Den Bosch is a proud partner of Posters for the Planet, a design competition open to everyone until 1 September, which forms the basis of a media campaign on climate change. This campaign is necessary because, although 80 per cent of Dutch people are concerned about rising temperatures and declining biodiversity, they find it difficult to translate that concern into a meaningful contribution to a better environment. This topic ties in perfectly with the exhibition Design for the Planet, which can be seen on the first floor of the museum.

From 14 November to 8 December, the winners of the design competition will be on display in the free-access hall of Design Museum Den Bosch. Posters for the Planet wants to make the difference between good intentions and actual change. This requires a powerful poster. A poster can do something that words and opinions cannot: condense the complexity of cause and effect into one powerful design. A poster with a strong call to action that will soon be on display throughout the country in a travelling exhibition at museums and in a media campaign on the streets and in unexpected places in society. The winners of the posters will be selected by a five-member professional jury consisting of behavioural scientist Reint Jan Renes; director of the Urgenda Foundation Marjan Minnesma; curator of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam Thomas Castro; cartoonist Jip van der Toorn; and director of Climate at the Turing Foundation Lian Heinhuis. View all submitted posters and read more on the Posters for the Planet website.
