We’re delighted that you’re thinking about visiting us at Design Museum Den Bosch. This page has information about accessibility at the museum. If you have any questions or tips, please e-mail us at communicatie@designmuseum.nl or call us on +31 73-627 3513.
General
Anyone with a disability that prevents them visiting the museum independently can bring a carer free of charge. Professionally trained assistance dogs with a harness are welcome too.
Taking the stairs gives you a view of the building, but also means you can see downwards. This might be challenging for certain people with a fear of heights. Feel free to use the lift in this case. It is enclosed, so you can’t see out as you go up or down.
We don’t have parking spaces of our own. Wolvenhoek multi-storey car park is located 100 metres from the museum. The spacious and modern Sint-Jan multi-storey car park, 800 metres away, offers good accessibility.
Sensory overload
If you would prefer to visit Design Museum Den Bosch at a quieter moment, the best times are weekdays immediately after opening (11 am) or at the end of the day (we close at 5 pm), when there are generally fewer visitors.
Mobility
Design Museum Den Bosch has full wheelchair access thanks to our spacious lift. There are no thresholds in the building and you can enter the museum via a ramp. Cobblestones in the surrounding streets might make it harder to reach us.
There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet in all the toilet facilities, which are located on the ground floor and the first floor. Lockers are available at different heights.
You can borrow a wheelchair at the museum suitable for people weighing up to 125 kg. Book it by e-mailing info@designmuseum.nl, phoning +31 73-6270 3680 or asking at reception. You can get a portable stool there to take with you around the galleries. The lightweight model is easy to carry.
Visual impairment
All the exhibition texts are high-contrast. Regrettably, we can’t offer you a full experience if you are completely (or almost completely) visually impaired.
Hearing impairment
If an exhibition offers an audio tour, you can ask for a copy of the text at reception.
Will you still not be able to visit the museum? In that case, use our website to check out the Third Floor. This is our on-line platform, where you can discover more about the themes of current and earlier exhibitions.
