Design Museum Den Bosch underlines the cultural meaning and role of design in history, present day and in the future. Over the coming years, the museum aims to further reinforce its position in the regional, national and international cultural landscape. We schedule themed design exhibitions with a strong level of research. Currently, there is a vacancy for curator of exhibitions.

Design Museum Den Bosch is looking for a curator of exhibitions (32-36 hours)

 As curator, you will contribute to our ambitions and will be responsible for the concept development and execution of exhibitions including project organisation, process monitoring and the financial process.
You maintain and manage the corresponding network of business relations and partners. You contribute to the museum’s profile and objectives by means of distinctive exhibitions.

  • You are focused on results and bear responsibility for your own exhibitions, both in terms of content, finances and process.
  • You have good social skills and are a sparring partner for other curators and colleagues.

Job details:

  • Providing and executing proposals for presentations and exhibitions;
  • Providing advice on acquisitions for the collection and loans for exhibitions;
  • Taking up project leadership of exhibitions and national and international co-productions;
  • Providing public-oriented and research-driven texts for publications in the field of design and design history, for exhibitions and for social media.
  • Following the developments in the field and museums and applying this knowledge actively.
  • Building and maintaining a relevant national and international network;
  • Stay informed about current cultural developments.

We require:

  • A university degree in art history, cultural studies, material culture or a comparable programme with demonstrable design knowledge.
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrable relevant and professional work experience.
  • Experience with project-based work and seeing the importance of extensive collaboration between various disciplines within and outside of our museum.
  • Excellent written and oral proficiency in Dutch and written and oral proficiency in English.
  • Affinity with the dynamics of the digital world.

We offer a varied job at a compact and ambitious organisation. The salary scale for the position is scale 11 of the Dutch Museum CAO (€ 3405 – € 4576 based on a 36-hour working week). It concerns a contract for one year, which will be converted to permanent employment upon mutual satisfaction after this period.
