Jamie Reid

Visiting time: Average (60 minutes)

Jamie Reid (1947-2023) was a British designer, artist and activist. Reid’s graphic design is inextricably linked with punk. He employed his distinctive cut-and-paste design style for the world-famous album cover Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols (1977) and later also for Dead Kennedys and in 2012 for Pussy Riot. Reid would remain a figurehead of the counterculture throughout his life. In his work, he spoke out against Margaret Thatcher’s policies and the Iraq War, but also against the hypocrisy of some British artists. For this exhibition, we are collaborating with the Jamie Reid Archive of the John Marchant Gallery in Brighton.
