Gegenauslese – Population

Starting in 1937, a set of 70 individual sheets were used in the curriculum of the upper classes at German folk schools in order to introduce students to the concepts of racial theory within the subjects of biology and heredity. This map draws attention to the threat of ‘repopulation.’ It illustrates the influx of impoverished ‘kaftan Jews’ into Germany, along with the migration of German farmers and skilled workers departing via Hamburg to other destinations.
