Premodern Berlin

In the early 19th century, Berlin was a relatively compact European capital city, housing a mere 175,000 residents, making it even smaller than Amsterdam. What is particularly recognisable is the mediaeval core and a Renaissance city, seemingly fused together without real cohesion.
